To be eligible to take the Sustainability Excellence Professional (SEP) exam, SEP applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Hold an active SEA credential that has not expired
2. Complete and submit this application form providing evidence of eligibility for the SEP exam

Before you fill out the application, follow the steps below:

1. Carefully review the SEP eligibility requirements in the SEP Candidate Handbook and download the SEP Reference Form.

2. Login to your gbci.org account. This is the account you used to register for the SEA exam, or was assigned to you because you already have an SEA credential. Note: If you already have a usgbc.org account, you may use that ID to login to gbci.org.

3. Visit your Credentials Overview page. Scroll down below your SEA credential record and click the button to register for the SEP credential exam. Follow the instructions on the SEP registration page.

You will need to have the following documents ready in order to submit them in your SEP Application:

1. The latest copy of your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
2. Three (3) completed SEP Reference Forms.
3. Academic transcripts to demonstrate sustainability-related education and training if you have less than five (5) years of sustainability-related experience.

Once complete, your CV, three (3) completed SEP Reference Forms, and academic transcripts (if applicable) must be combined into a single PDF which you will need to upload at the end of the SEP Application Form. The PDF file must be named using your first name and last name as follows: “[Last Name]_[First Name]_SEP_Application”.

Only information contained in the application PDF will be reviewed. No information in the email text or in documents not attached to the application will be considered – as stated above, all pieces of the application must be consolidated into a single PDF.

Candidates will be informed of their application’s status within 10 business days from the date GBCI is in receipt of both their application and the application fee.
